THE imported rice from Thailand are expected to be delivered to National Food Authority (NFA) warehouses as soon as these arrive at the Poro Point in La Union this week.

Chona Maramba, Administrative Officer III of NFA Western Pangasinan, said the delivery of 50,000 NFA rice or 250,000 metric tons that was supposed to arrive during the first week of June was delayed because of inclement weather.

Another 50,000 bags of rice are scheduled to arrive next month.

Maramba assured the consumers that there will be 886,182 bags of commercial and household rice enough to cover the next 67 days in Western Pangasinan.

In Eastern Pangasinan, on stock are 1,165,000 bags of commercial and household rice good for 134 days.

The prices of commercial rice in Pangasinan range from P40 to P45 a kilo while the special rice is P50 to P70 per kilogram, and the rice of ‘Tulong sa Bayan’ program from the rice cooperatives is sold at P39 a kilo. (Nora Dominguez)
