Where to go this Holy Week

Photos and text by Art G. Valenzuela

With most of Mega Manila under MGCQ until April 4, one wonders where and how to spend the Holy Week. A favorite hideaway should be at a friend’s cottage on a beach or at whatever place where one can find inner peace of mind remembering the Man whose sacrifices on a Good Friday is the reason for the Holy Week.

Here are four photos that should reflect the country’s mood — somber and reflective, but not about to give up on this battle.

The photos were taken at two of my favorite places: Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte and Thunderbird at Poro Point in La Union. Perhaps, the longest seacoast of “developed” beach resorts in the Philippines could be found along the Ilocos coastline that stretches from Infanta in Pangasinan to Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte, some 1,000 kilometers long of good places to stay. It’s your choice.
