City honors outstanding balikbayan Dagupenos
AT the culminating event of this year’s city fiesta, three outstanding Dagupeños were given recognition for their respective achievements that have brought pride to Dagupan.
Two balikbayans – Philip de Vera, a famed hairdresser to the stars, and Richard Gubatan, founder of the public safety workers linkage cause group Mistah Foundation – were awarded plaques during the Pawil Dagupan night on December 26.
In the same evening, Miss Dagupan 2011 Denielle Joie Magno was crowned and is now officially the city’s ambassador of goodwill.
All the Pawil Dagupeños who attended this year were also given certificates of appreciation for their contributions to Dagupan’s development.
Mayor Benjamin Lim, in his festival message, saluted all the Pawil Dagupeños and lauded their continued support to the city.
Fiesta Vice Chairman Chester Gonzales officially welcomed the guests, as Councilor Guillermo Vallejos, this year’s Hermano Mayor, was absent.
The balikbayans danced all night to the music provided by the Music of the Heart Pop Orchestra and the EC Jammers Band of former Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco Jr.
The University of Pangasinan-PHINMA chorale also serenaded the guests. (CIO)
