FOR STUDENTS FROM FOUR UNIVERSITIES, COLLEGES

EIGHTY students will benefit from a scholarship grant from South Korea’s Lotte Scholarship Foundation (LSF) following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between LSF and four educational institutions in Pangasinan on March 8.

The MOU was signed by Gov. Ramon Guico III and Chang Haesun, chair of Lotte Scholarship Foundation.

“I am pleased to sign the MOU with the educational leaders of Pangasinan. I am especially very thankful to the governor, vice governor, president of the universities and other associates. I appreciate the cooperation,” Chang Haesun said.

She said Lotte Foundation was established 40 years ago and has been providing 3.8 billion (won) to foster young global students because it believes that education is the base of everything.

Lotte Foundation already partnered with 38 schools worldwide in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Cambodia, Thailand and now the Philippines with Pangasinan as the first province to benefit from the foundation’s generosity beginning Academic Year 2024-2025.

Twenty students each will be selected from the Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC), Pangasinan State University, Binalatongan Community College of the local government of San Carlos City, and University of Eastern Pangasinan of Binalonan.

For his part, Gov. Guico said he believes in the power of education “as a great equalizer… to alleviate people from poverty and the miseries of the society”.

Those who co-signed the MOU were college presidents: Dr. Macrina Cajala (BCC); Dr. Elbert M. Galas (PSU); Dr. Evelyn Abalos-Tomboc (UEP); and Dr. Raymundo Rovillos (PPC).

At present, Lotte Foundation supports 800 scholars in the entire world.
