By September 3, 2023Business

TO address the petition of the labor sector for another increase in the minimum wage to enable it to cope with spiraling prices of basic needs and prime commodities, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) Region I conducted a public consultation in two provinces last week.

It could be recalled that the minimum wage in Region I rose in several tranches, with the final tranche effective March 01, 2023.

The consultation, done in the provinces of Pangasinan and La Union with private establishments and the local kasambahay, specifically to measure sentiments and reactions of employers, and other sectors.

Minimum wage for workers with more than 10 employees is presently pegged at P400, while employees in establishments with a small number of workers are paid at PHP 372.

The petition for a new wage increase in NCR was granted recently.

The RTWPB is tasked with formulating proper wage guidelines for workers across the country. (Ahikam Pasion)
