Septuagenarian doctor dies in house’s fire
A 74-year-old doctor died inside her house in Barangay Poblacion West in Calasiao town on Tuesday morning, May 17, when it caught fire.
The victim was identified as Dr. Violeta Garcia, a stroke patient, bedridden, and unable to move on her own.
Fire Senior Inspector Gener Ramos, Fire Marshal of the Calasiao Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), said the fire broke out at around seven in the morning in one room and quickly spread to other parts of the old house.
She only had an 18-year-old companion who was rushed to the hospital due to sustained injuries.
Ramos said the fire reached second alarm, and was declared fire out by 9:55 in the morning.
Ramos urged the public to regularly check on their houses and building’s electrical system.
Cause of the fire is still being probed as of writing. (Ahikam Pasion)
