SM Supermalls in Pangasinan simultaneously celebrated Earth Day 2023 on April 22, 2023, with activities promoting environmental sustainability and awareness toward a more sustainable future. The event, titled “Earth Day 2023: Invest in Our Planet, Invest in Our Youth,” featured an Art and Storytelling activity, a Sustainability Tour, and a Tree Planting activity.

The Art and Storytelling activity invited participants to express their love for the planet and share their stories through various artistic forms. The community artists and storytellers led the activity reading a story based on Manny Baldemor’s artworks. The story illustrates simple ways children can live sustainably independently and with their families.

It was followed by a ‘Sustainability Tour ‘showcased sustainability initiatives and practices implemented in SM Malls, educating participants to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. The event was attended by students from Anonas Elementary, Pozorrubio Elementary School and children of SM employees at SM City Urdaneta Central while students from Feliz Academy participated in the activity at SM City Rosales, and grade 3 students and parents from Wonderland Academy joined the event at SM Center Dagupan.

The Sustainability Tour showcased the Solar Panels, Bike Parking, and Trash to Cash Program of SM City Urdaneta Central, SM City Rosales, and SM Center Dagupan.

The SM employee volunteers of SM City Urdaneta Central distributed seedlings and samplings from CENRO Urdaneta to participants.

The Earth Day Celebration at SM Malls in Pangasinan is also an annual activity of SM Supermalls as part of its advocacy for environmental conservation.  (SM)
