Pay-parking in Manaoag mulled to set order
THE local government of Manaoag expects to establish rules and regulations of parking areas and their fees soon after receiving reports of abuses from motorists against owners of vacant lots that converted these into pay parking areas.
Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario, in an interview Tuesday, November 29, said a consultation meeting with lot owners and other stakeholders will be called soon to address the problems caused by the growing influx of motorists to Manaoag town, particularly during weekends.
Rosario said the meeting will discuss and agree on recommendations to regulate parking areas, accreditation of pay parking personnel for the implementation of issuance of parking tickets.
The mayor said traffic management has become a serious challenge especially after
owners of vacant lots close to the town’s Minor Basilica, as they convert it into private parking lots and over charge motorists.
Earlier, two companies already approached the town government with recommendation to build a multi-level parking facility. (Ahikam Pasion)
