NBI, DTI raid medical oxygen refilling station
JOINT forces from the Department of Trade and Industry-Pangasinan (DTI) and the National Bureau of Investigation-Dagupan District Office (NBI-DADO), raided a medical oxygen refilling station in Barangay Minien East, Sta. Barbara on Thursday afternoon, September 30.
The raid was prompted by a report that the ORO Oxygen Corporation in Sta. Barbara did not have the necessary permits to operate, i.e., no business permit to operate, and no Philippine Standard (PS) certification – both prerequisites to operate a refilling station.
Authorities said the ORO Oxygen Corporation is required to comply with the technical regulations set by the Bureau of Philippine Standards, to ensure safe and proper refilling, sale, and disposal of medical-grade oxygen, and its cylinders.
As of writing, personnel from the DTI and NBI are still conducting inventory management, in order to determine the number of oxygen cylinders in store.
Meanwhile, the station will be temporarily closed until it fully complies with industry laws. (Ahikam Pasion)
