Significant drop in COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan noted
PANGASINAN reported lower number of average COVID-19 cases per day for the month of June compared to the previous months.
This was reported by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases’ (IATF-EID) Rhodyn Oro during the Question Hour of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan session on June 21.
He said COVID-19 cases from June 1-15 were down to 59.9 average cases per day, the drop was even bigger last week, June 16-20, with an average of 47.8 cases per day.
Oro, also the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer, cited the average of 67 cases per day last April and average of 71.2 cases per day in May.
Meanwhile, Provincial Health Officer Anna de Guzman reported 114, 641 residents or 5.8% of the province’s 1, 975, 080 eligible population have been vaccinated since the launching of the COVID-Vaccines: 84, 172 received their first dose while 30, 469 completed two doses.
Further, 56.5% of the A1 or the Frontline Workers received their vaccines, 35% of the Senior Citizens got inoculated and 8.5% with comorbidities got vaccinated.
De Guzman confirmed that the province is getting its ‘fair share’ of vaccines and guaranteed that the people who got their first dose will get their second dose on time amid reports that the national government is allocating more for NCR+ and Mindanao.

De Guzman said among the factors that caused delays in vaccination rollout in other towns and cities are local lockdowns, prioritizing A1 and A2 for vaccination; and insufficient number of vaccination teams.
She said LGUs have been advised to administer vaccines delivered to them within the week and to revisit their micro-plans for the vaccination roll-out as Board Member Jeremy Rosario, committee on health chairperson, suggested that vaccination roll-out of LGUs should establish clear schedules.
Meanwhile, Police Provincial Director Ronald Gayo reported that requests for 15,720 S-PaSS (Safe, Swift and Smart Passage) were approved in last 45 days and Quezon City was listed as the top origin of Pangasinan visitors. (Ahikam Pasion/ PIO/JCS)
