Gov. Espino renews call for unity, patience, discipline among P’sinenses to defeat COVID-19

“ANG tulong ninyo para sa ating mga kababayan ay ang pagmamahal ninyo sa inyong mga mahal sa buhay. Kung tayo ay magtutulungan sa ating komunidad at susunod sa mga bilin ay malaking tulong na ito.”
This was the message of Governor Amado I. Espino III as he called for the continuous support of every Pangasinense in fighting the COVID-19 during the staging of Abig Pangasinan in Urdaneta City on April 21.
Gov. Espino highlighted that the patience and discipline of Pangasinenses are needed to fight the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the province.
“Balansehin natin, mga kababayan. Tiyaga at disiplina ang kailangan natin. Lilipas din po ito. Ipinapangako ko sa inyo na mairaraos din natin ito.” said Gov. Espino.
The provincial chief executive also called for the unity and cooperation of each Pangasinense to continuously lower the cases of COVID-19 in Pangasinan.
“Itong tiyaga at disiplina ay para sa ating buhay. Hindi po ito para sa amin kung hindi pati sa inyong mga mahal sa buhay. Kung tayo ay magtutulungan ay mapapababa pa natin ang kaso ng COVID sa ating probinsya,” Gov. Espino said.
Likewise, Board Member Chinky Perez-Tababa added, “Sama-sama tayo sa Abig upang tuloy-tuloy tayong bumangon dahil ang mga Pilipino ay lumalaban sa anumang pagkakataon.”
Urdaneta City Mayor Julio “Rammy” Parayno III commended Governor Espino and the team of the Provincial Government for the Abig Pangasinan Karaban.
“Itong programa ng probinsya ay pinapakita na talagang nagtatrabaho ang probinsiya ng Pangasinan. Sa Abig Pangasinan, isang programa na maipapakita natin ang lahat-lahat na ginagawa ng Probinsya ng Pangasinan. Dito natin nakikita na sadyang napakasipag ng ating nakaupong Gobernador,” said Mayor Parayno.
The Abig Pangasinan Karaban, a brainchild project of Governor Espino, is a socio-economy recovery program of the Provincial Government containing various social services that aims to uplift the lives of Pangasinenses amidts the adverse effects of COVID-19.
The three major components of the Abig Pangasinan Karaban include: Kabuhayan Palengke Karaban where products such as vegetable and meat are bought from locals vendors and are distributed to the 14 government-run hospitals in the province; Karagdagang Pangkabuhayan or Cash-for-Work which grants financial assistance to different sectors groups who assisted in the Abig Pangasinan Karaban; and Kalinisan Karaban where collected plastic wastes from Pangasinenses are bought at P20.00 a kilo and exchanged with grocery items, rice, school supplies, cell phone loads and other items available at the mobile store.
One unit of grass-cutter was also awarded to the local government unit of Urdaneta as a logistical support to the Kalinisan Karaban program.
SK Federation President and Board Member Jerome Vic Espino also encouraged the youth of Urdaneta City to support the Kalinisan Karaban.
“Ang isang programa na para sa ating mga kabataan na Kalinisan Karaban. Ang kapalit ng mga basurang ito ay magiging malinis ang ating barangay, ating lungsod at ang ating probinsya at makukuha pa natin nang libre ang mga pang-araw-araw nating pamumuhay,” said BM Espino.
Food production supports are also given to various associations and groups in Urdaneta City. Five associations received assorted vegetable seedlings. Fruit-bearing tree seedlings were also distributed to five associations and the SK Federation of Urdaneta City. Two farmers groups were the recipients of tilapia fingerlings while 27 farmer associations received one unit of water-pump each.
Information desks and support services for the livelihood assistance program (LAP), Tulong sa Pagsasanay at Trabaho or skills training are also stationed at the Abig Pangasinan Karaban.
Pet-care services was also brought to the Abig Pangasinan Karaban where free services for animals were provided.
The Abig Laman ed Barangay (mini-Kalusugan Karaban) was also held on the same day.
A modified version of the I Love Pangasinan Kalusugan Karaban, the Abig Laman ed Barangay brings free health services to the locals of Urdaneta City including medical and pediatric services, laboratory tests, ECG and X-ray services, and free vitamins and medicines. /Paula Jhea Sison
