Pangasinan sends aid to Isabela
OPLAN Tulong Kapatid of the Pangasinan provincial government shifted aid to flood-soaked Isabela province on November 25.
The humanitarian assistance organized by Governor Amado Espino III to help the people of Isabela badly affected by a massive flood triggered by Typhoon Ulysses consisted of 7,500 relief packs, each containing three kilos of rice, two canned goods and three packs of noodles; 8,040 pairs of slippers and 800 blankets.
Some of the items were donated by local government units, private sectors and non-government organizations, among them the municipality of Labrador, JCI Lingayen Bagoong, JCI Hundred Islands, United Ilocandia Fraternity-Sorority, Labrador Central School and Barangay San Gonzalo in Labrador.
All these and others goods were loaded on a provincial bus, six dump trucks, two 6×6 truck, a rescue elf truck and a closed van, with a crew of 72 personnel that left the provincial capitol at 9:00 p.m. on November 24.
The convoy, headed by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emilio Samson Jr., reached Ilagan, the capital of Isabela at 8:00 a.m. the following day.
In a ceremony in front of the Isabela provincial capitol, Samson turned over the donations to Isabela Provincial Administrator Manuel Lopez, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Jimmy Rivera and Isabela PSWDO Lucila Ambatali.
In response, Lopez conveyed the gratitude of the people of Isabela to the Pangasinan provincial government and Governor Espino for their assistance.
On November 20, Oplan Tulong Kapatid brought to Cagayan 10,000 family food packs that consisted of three kilos of rice, three pieces of noodles and two cans of sardines, 10,000 pairs of slippers and 1,000 blankets. (Leonardo Micua)
