THE San Carlos City government confirmed on Tuesday, Nov. 24, that a 68-year-old woman, resident of Barangay Cacaritan, died from COVID-19 infection, the city’s first casualty in the campaign vs. the virus.

The City Information Office said the patient was the 43rd case of COVID-19 in the city and had no any recorded travel history from outside the province since the pandemic started.

“It is believed that she possibly acquired the virus from an infected individual,” the CIO said. Soon as she tested positive for COVID-19, she was immediately isolated and admitted at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.

Her remains were immediately cremated.

Meanwhile, persons who were traced to have had direct exposure to the patient all tested negative in their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.

As of Nov. 24, San Carlos City has 46 confirmed COVID-19 cases; 41 have fully recovered, and still four active cases, all isolated in city’s quarantine facility. (Jerick Pasiliao)
