REP. Conrado Estrella III gave Region 1 Medical Center a glowing accolade describing it as “the most outstanding government hospital under the Department of Health” in his speech last Friday at the Stadia.

Speaking as guest of honor and speaker during its Christmas party, Estrella cited the professional excellence of R1MC’s medical personnel and staff under Director Roland Mejia.

“You have been a big factor in the wellness and health program in the region,” he said, adding, “I find you all competent, humble and very professional.”.

He said he had a pleasant surprise when he saw R1MC facilities on par with the world’s best, and cited the many ongoing infrastructure improvements at the R1MC compound, including ongoing construction of 5-story building and an 11-story building that will soon rise next year.

Estrella added he was assured by Chinese General Hospital Chairman James Dy that CGH will partner with R1MC in an exchange program on expertise and medical trends for the the hospitals’ mutual benefit.

Majority of R1MC’s personnel came from farming families, it was learned.

Former San Fabian Mayor Conrado Gubatan and Vice Mayor Edgar Mamenta of Binmaley said they shared Estrella’s impression of R1MC under Mejia’s watch.
