Christian lay leader Madam Velasco, 89, interred
MRS. Aurora Martinez Velasco, 89, widow of the late Pio Velasco, Baptist Church and Bible study teacher, and mother of ten, was interred at the Eternal Gardens in Dagupan City amid Gospel songs and prayers and Christian speeches from pastors led by Bishop Joel Espino Raner, Dante Ubando and family members.

The remains of Velasco had been in state at the Funeraria Aurea Quiogue in Dagupan City for 7 days since she passed away on November 3.
In the interment rites, speeches and prayers were given by family members led by journalist Jun and foreign affairs adviser Dante Velasco, Mita V. Navarro and brother Ernie Martinez.
Grandson MacMac V. Casupanan and Dang B. Velasco, Amazing Grace church song leader Nora Signo rendered Christian songs, while grandson Youssef Velasco, an appointments staff in Malacanang, was emcee.
Velasco was a recipient of an Ulirang Ina Award from the Division of City Schools in Dagupan City, while late husband Pio Velasco was a recipient of an Ulirang Ama award from the provincial government in 1985.
Known for her touching Christian speeches and counsels in church activities, she is survived by children Juanito, Dante, Susan, Julie, Mita, Pio Jr., Noel, Norman, Armila and Orpheus; children-in-law Catherine Bernardo, Evelina Quijano, Perpetuo Tuano, Angel Domagas, Rod Navarro, Rita Bacani, Pacita Catallon, Necita Erfe, Fernando Casupanan and Ana Louise Jaboneta, and grandchildren and great children; brother Guillermo and sisters Alodea Dy, Celerina Dacumos and Ester Martinez.
