Aurora Martinez Velasco, 89
Mrs. Aurora Martinez Velasco, widow of Pio Infante Velasco, and mother of journalist Juanito “Jun” Velasco and Foreign Affairs Senior Adviser Dante Velasco passed away on Nov. 3 at age 89 at the Nazareth General Hospital in Dagupan City
An outstanding Christian lay leader, Mrs. Velasco was a recipient of an Ulirang Ina Award from the Division of City Schools in Dagupan City. Her late husband Pio Velasco was also a recipient of an Ulirang Ama award from the provincial government in 1985.
An author of a compilation of Christian speeches and counsels she delivered at church and other occasions, Mrs. Velasco is survived by children Juanito, Dante, Susan, Julie, Mita, Pio Jr., Noel, Norman, Armila and Orpheus; children-in-law Catherine Bernardo, Evelina Quijano, Perpetuo Tuano, Angel Domagas, Rod Navarro, Rita Bacani, Pacita Catallon, Necita Erfe, Fernando Casupanan and Ana Louise Jaboneta, and grandchildren and great children; brother Guillermo and sisters Alodea Dy, Celerina Dacumos and Ester Singh.
Her remains which lie in state at the St John Chapel in Dagupan City will be interred at the Eternal Gardens in Dagupan City on a date that will be announced shortly.
