THE Dagupan City Council is now ready to grant some 380 new franchises for motorized tricycles on a strictly first come, first served basis.

Councilor Karlos Liberato Reyna IV, chairman on public utilities of the city council, said new applicants can file their applications on August 24 to 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome.

Applicants must bring valid identification cards, official receipts from the Land Transportation Office, original voters registration, clearances from the police, municipal trial court, prosecutors office, barangay, certification from the Dagupan Tricycle Operators Association and residence certificate.

Reyna said only residents of Dagupan will be granted franchises.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez also stressed that the tricycle operators must apply personally as the city council will not entertain fixers.

Applicants with complete requirements will be issued a pay slip that will authorize them to pay P350 at the One-Stop Shop at city hall.

The city council will later pass a resolution conferring franchises to the successful applicants.

The P500 franchise fee, payable to the city government, will be good for three years.

All the franchise holders must also secure a separate mayor’s permit, which is renewable every year.–LM
