Department Department of Agriculture regional director Nestor Domenden said  of red tide (paralytic shellfish poisoning) earlier detected in the two coastal towns has disappeared as confirmed by third successive tests.

The lifting of the ban immediately triggered harvesting of tahong  (mussels) and talaba (oysters) which abound in the two towns.

Domenden said that based on the three successive tests conducted by his office within a three-week period, the samples taken showed that the harmful red tide has completely disappeared in both Bolinao and Anda.

The ban took a toll on the livelihood of growers and traders.

He pointed out that the rains that started to fall the past weeks helped remove the toxins that affect shellfish in the two coastal towns.
