Espino: “Fight poverty, ignorance and homelessness”
LINGAYEN—Governor Amado Espino Jr., speaking during the province’s Independence Day celebration on June 12, urged officials and employees of the provincial government to continue working against poverty, ignorance and homelessness.
“In the early years of our history, the three K’s stood for Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangan Katipunan, but today these have been replaced by kahirapan, kamangmangan and kawalan ng masilungan,” the governor said in his speech during the 111th anniversary celebration of Philippine Independence on June 12 at the Capitol Grandstand.
“What the province is fighting for right now is not against foreign invaders but the battle stands in our liberation against fear, ignorance, poverty, illness and homelessness,” he added.
At the same time, Espino lauded the officials and employees for working with him as he introduced a culture of change not only in the cultural mindset among the public servants, but also in launching massive pro-poor programs geared towards his vision of making Pangasinan as the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family.
He said the effort of all officials and employees of the province signifies this year’s theme, “Kagitingan, Kagalingan, Tungo sa Tunay na Kalayaan”.
