Binmaley students get bags, notebooks
BINMALEY—Students of Binmaley School of Fisheries were among the latest recipients of bags and other school supplies from the local government as part of the “Simpleng Alay sa Mag-aaral” program.
Mayor Simplicio Rosario and members of the Sangguniang Bayan distributed the gifts on Thursday in the school and in other public schools within barangays Dulag, Parayao, and Camaley.
About 15,000 school bags with eight notebooks, pen, pencil and pad paper each were given out.
The project was launched by Rosario in 2006 but initially only for the pupils at the elementary level. He later included public high schools to support poor students whose parents could hardly afford to buy new school supplies.
“That is your money. I am just giving it back to you,” said Rosario, noting that the funds were sourced from the municipal coffer, adding that the program is part of his commitment to the youth.

Meanwhile, 3rd District Rep. Ma. Rachel Arenas also distributed workbooks in Science and Math for grades three to six in her district the other day.
On her initiative, the books were purchased through a P5-million fund from the Department of Education (DepEd).#
