Chinese consul visits Pangasinan
LINGAYEN–A sisterhood agreement of the province with Sichuan province in China is being mulled as a result of the recent visit of China’s consular officers
Chinese consulate officials led by Consul Tian Qixiang of the consulate of the People’s Republic of China based in Laoag City visited the province last week to rekindle friendship and strengthen cooperation between Pangasinan and China.
Governor Amado Espino Jr. welcomed the delegation at the capitol here and said Pangasinan will proceed with a previous plan to enter into a sisterhood agreement with Sichuan.
The consulate officials that included Vice Consul Lu Pinrou were accompanied to the capitol by Engr. Rosendo So, president of the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in eastern Pangasinan, and Provincial Board Member Danilo Uy.
The Chinese consuls invited officials and businessmen of Pangasinan to visit China to learn more about Chinese agriculture, culture and way of life.
The governor said he would like the Chinese government to impart to Pangasinan their modern and innovative technology in agriculture, fisheries, mining and sports.
At the same time, Espino said he would propose to the Chinese consul to open a sub-office of the Chinese consulate in Pangasinan, which is home to more than one half of the area and population of the whole Region 1. —LM
