600 JdV scholars graduate
AT least 150 college scholars and 450 technical-vocational scholars of 4th District Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr. graduated from their respective courses in April this year.
The college scholars were enrolled in four-year courses at the University of Pangasinan, Lyceum Northwestern University, University of Luzon, Colegio de Dagupan, Pangasinan State University and the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in San Fernando City, La Union.
The college scholars took up various courses, including engineering, nursing, accountancy, business, management and education courses.
The 450 vocational scholars were financed by De Venecia’s Countrywide Development Fund with a counterpart of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
TESDA Provincial Director Ponciano Catipon said De Venecia and Rep. Arthur Celeste of the 1st district were the only lawmakers from Pangasinan who set up funds for technical-vocational education among their constituents.
The tech-voc scholars graduated in electronics, massage and therapy, nursing aide, medical transcription, welding, computer programming, bakery, cooking and food technology, which are six-month courses.
The tech-voc scholars were enrolled in various colleges and universities in Dagupan and technology schools accredited by TESDA, including AMA, Manila Montessori, Dagupan Colleges Foundation, Nazareth Colleges, Acres Professional Institute, among others.
“I’m glad that many have graduated as part of our strategy to bridge the huge gap between the rich and the poor and to expand and enlarge the Filipino middle class,” De Venecia said.–LM
