JdV hails City Mayor’s campaign vs. squatters
“Go after them!”
Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr. urged Dagupan City Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. not to relent in his “no-nonsense campaign” against land grabbers who have evidently illegally misappropriated for themselves portions of the Tondaligan Park and other foreshore areas in Bonuan.
De Venecia, reacting to The PUNCH reports, lauded the city mayor for his political will, noting that the city government had gone to the extent of filing criminal charges in court against prominent and affluent persons in who have illegally occupied the beach.
“By his uncompromising stance, Mayor Al Fernandez has shown that no one is above the law,” said De Venecia, noting that among those sued by the city government is a regional trial court judge in Dagupan City and a town mayor.
RTC Judge Robert Rudio of Branch 40, was identified by the Task Force on Housing and Urban Resettlement in the city the person who built a two-storey house inside the Tondaligan Park in Barangay Bonuan Binloc, sans any building permit.
Rudio’s house is less than 100 meters northwest of De Venecia’s residence in Bonuan Binloc.
The others sued by the city government are Calasiao Mayor Roy Macanlalay, lawyer Juan Siapno Jr., a former prosecutor; and businessman Mario Sandoval, owner of Goring’s Restaurant on Arellano Street.
De Venecia said he is squarely behind Mayor Fernandez in the effort to rid Tondaligan Parks of squatters and restore it to its old grandeur.
The mayor told The PUNCH he will spare no one in the campaign against squatting, whether big or small, rich or poor.
He ordered the cancellation of all tax declaration certificates issued by the previous Lim administration.–LM
