9 famous bands coming for Bangusan Street Party
FAMOUS bands from Manila will be performing at the Bangusan Street Party, one of the most awaited events of the annual Dagupan Bangus Festival slated this year from April 15 to May 1.
Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, chair of the executive committee of this year’s Bangus Festival, said nine bands have already confirmed their participation, while two more are still under study.
The crowd-drawing Bangusan Street Party, starts in the afternoon of April 27 until the wee hours the next day, will be held at the 2.5 kilometer stretch of the newly opened Jose R. de Venecia Expressway Extension which can accommodate up to one million people.
Among the Manila-based bands that have already signed agreements to perform are the RJ Band, Parokya ni Edgar, Bamboo, Pupil, Sponge Cola, and Sino Sikat.
The local band Bossing, whose members are business managers and executives, are also giving a taste of their 70s and 80’s music.
A platform will be set up in that stretch for each band at 500 meters apart in order to allow the people to move around and listen separately to each famous band playing all night.
Last year’s Bangusan Street Party held on A.B. Fernandez Avenue, the city’s main thoroughfare, already drew a record crowd of more than half a million people, thrice bigger than the crowds in the past.
Fernandez said the committee decided to move the street party at the new highway to give spectators more space and option to enjoy the concerts.
“To provide added safety and comfort for expected crowd, the new expressway is the best option available,” Fernandez said.
Councilor Carlos Alipio Fernandez, co-chair person of the event, expects SK members not only from Dagupan but from neighboring towns to participate in the Bangusan Street Party.
The party-goers are encouraged to bring along their grill equipment for their “picnic” at the street party.
The executive committee assured that there will be adequate parking spaces for all vehicles and 18 portable toilets will be set up for the event.—LM
