Arenas resents Domantays accomplishment report
MALASIQUI–Third District Rep. Ma. Rachel Arenas is annoyed at this town’s chief, Mayor Armand Domantay.
Arenas said she resents the presentation of accomplishments made by Domantay during two successive nights of the town’s fiesta last week where he took sole credit for several projects in the municipality.
“Give credit where credit is due,” Arenas laments.
Arenas said the people should be reminded, even if most of them are already aware, that she was the one who worked hard to source funds for those projects in this town, where she also resides.
The first-termer congresswoman cited that since she assumed office in 2007, she has already contributed almost P159 million worth of infrastructure including national roads, irrigation facilities, farm-to-market roads, amphitheater, and bridges, among others for Malasiqui alone.
Arenas, who is a close ally of President Gloria Arroyo and is a frequent travel companion of the Chief Executive, said she is also crediting her accomplishments to the President.
“We all know that the local government could not implement such projects, especially that these cost huge amount,” she said.
She also clarified that while it is their duty as public servants to bring services to the people through the provision of such projects, she emphasized that it also takes persistent follow-ups and maintaining good relations to expedite the release of funding.
“If we don’t ask, we have nothing to implement,” she said.
Domantay’s presentation, said Arenas, came across as if the multi-million projects were the handiwork of the mayor and just mentioned her efforts but a couple of times.#
