LINGAYEN – Six scholars of the Pangasinan-Washington Sister-State Association (PAWASSA) were among those who graduated from college during the 28th Commencement Exercises of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) in Lingayen.

Of the six, Julie Ann de Quintos of Bugallon who earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Pure Math), graduated cum laude. She was recipient of the PAWASSA’s Romero Award.

Another dean’s-lister who graduated with a degree in B.S. Mathematics (Computer Information Technology) was Shiela Catabay of Bolinao, a recipient of the Kern Award.

Graduating with distinction and President’s Lister was Raymundo Ramos of Mangatarem with a B.S degree in Mathematics (Computer Information Technology).

Other PAWASSA scholars were Rodelyn Gomez of Lingayen (A.B. Economics), a recipient of the Palisoc Award; Zyra Magno of Alaminos (A.B. Economics), a recipient of the Casallo Award; and Elgin Ortillo of Bani (BSE English), a recipient of the Veloria Award.

The first PAWASSA scholar who graduated inApril 2005 was Deo Canave and is now employed as data encoder with Banco de Oro at Ortigas Avenue in Quezon City.

The graduation exercises, with its theme “PSU Graduates Making a Difference in Building a Better World thru Heightened Transitionalism”, had Health Secretary Francisco Duque III as commencement speaker.

PAWASSA was organized shortly after the province formalized its sisterhood ties with Washington State.
