” WALA po akong kasalanan sa taongbayan”

This was stressed by former Senator Jinggoy Estrada in a meeting with the city’s barangay officials at the City Museum on January 16 in his whirlwind stopover in Dagupan City.

Estrada was referring to the case filed against him before the Ombudsman over the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund arranged by Janet Napoles.

“Wala kaming kasalanan diyan”, said Estrada, alluding to fellow senators Ramon Revilla Jr. and Juan Ponce Enrile who were both slapped with similar cases before the Sandiganbayan.

Estrada said the one who accused them of wrongdoing is the one now incarcerated at Camp Crame, while all of them are now out and in fact running for senator.

Estrada was referring to Senator Leila De Lima, then the Justice Secretary during the administration of former President Benigno Aquino III, who instituted the charges against them.

“Weather-weather lang yan. Yong nagpakulong sa amin, siya ngayon ang nasa kulungan, samantalang kami ang nasa labas,“:he added.

Estrada said somebody asked him what he will do to the person who filed cases against them if he goes back to the Senate and he told him, “Nothing. vengeance is not mine. We just leave it to God”.

He told Dagupan barangay officials that as senator for two terms, he filed more than 600 proposed laws, making him the second most prolific senator of the Republic, second only to the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

Estrada cited the Kasambahay Law presently benefiting some 2.5 million househelps and their families all over the country.
