Fake souvenir program solicitor nabbed

VILLASIS — A woman who posed as an employee of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was arrested while trying to victimize a drug store owner at the town’s public market here at 4:50 p.m. of Thursday (Aug. 3).

The suspect was identified as Wilma Uligan, 54, of Bonuan, Dagupan City.

She and her companion, who posed as an employee of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), went to the Abril Drug Mart owned and managed by Evelyn Macayan, 55, of Barangay Puelay, Villasis to solicit purportedly for their souvenir program.

Macayan became suspicious of the two because they had no identification cards and called the police station.

Only Uligan was arrested by policemen as her companion managed to escape. (Leonardo Micua)
