TO develop the tourist spots in Central Pangasinan, 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil filed three Bills in the House of Representatives that will provide funds for his projects before his term ends in 2019.

He said his bill seeking the development of the Daang Kalikasan, the connecting road that will link Pangasinan to Zambales through the mountain ranges, will be meaningful for the people of Pangasinan and Zambales since it will not only shorten the travel time through the route but will increase the economic activities along the Daang Kalikasan.

He also filed the bill for the continued development of the Lingayen-Binmaley Baywalk from the Bantayan Port towards the Riverline of Agno River up to the boundary of Binmaley in Dagupan.

The development of Limahong Channel as a tourist spot is also the focus of his third bill to showcase the Chinese artifacts and memorabilia of the exploits of Limahong in the 1500’s. He recalled that when Limahong and his group were driven away from Manila Bay and he found their way in the river (now known as Limahong Channel) in their escape towards Lingayen Gulf and finally went to mainland China.

Bataoil also proposed the creation of the Heritage Complex that will initially seek the relocation of the Pangasinan Provincial Jail to Barangay island of Talogtog in Lingayen.

The present Provincial Jail facility, he said, will be used to complement the Casa Real and the area will be developed as a Heritage complex. (Nora Dominguez)
