SM’s ‘Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan’ to train city’s farmers

THE SM Foundation, in partnership with the Dagupan City government, is set to launch its “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan” Farmers Training Program on January 20 at Zone C in Barangay Mangin.

The program is supported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD), Department of Agriculture (DA) and Harbest Agribusiness Corporation (HAC).

John Mark Managan, HAC field instructor, announced the project shortly after he briefed Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and City Agriculturist Emma Molina on January 12.

The program has 12 training sessions that will update farmers on effective technology on backyard farming and small-scale farming techniques for fruits and vegetables.

Managan said the program will include lectures on seed sowing and harvesting using the technology used in Taiwan for the10 different crops for ‘pinakbet dish’ and fruits.

The training is for free courtesy of SM Foundation and Dagupan City is the 128th batch to receive the training.

He added that SM Foundation will help the farmers market their products at SM Malls. (CIO/Joseph C. Bacani)
