SAN CARLOS CITY— To prove his political detractors wrong, that he is neither a drug user of protector, Vice Mayor Julier Resuello took three drug tests in different facilities.

Resuello shows one of the three results of his drug tests.

The vice mayor said he voluntarily took three separate drug tests in the regional offices of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Department of Health’s Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center and the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Crime Laboratory in San Fernando City, La Union on Aug. 3 and all yielded negative results.

“I know that I’m negative of drugs but I just wanted to prove my detractors wrong as they have been consistently dragging my name in illegal drugs,” Resuello said.

He said he hopes this would put an end to the malicious rumors being circulated in his city, especially in social media networking sites.

He said he also fears for his life and that of his family because of spate of killings of suspected drug personalities and there might be persons who would take advantage of the escalating war vs. drugs to eliminate him.

Resuello’s father, then Mayor Julian Resuello was shot dead in 2007 at the height of election campaign.

His brother, Mayor Joseres Resuello, who took a drug test at the Crime Laboratory in Urdaneta City, also yielded negative results.

The vice mayor said his two brothers, Basista Vice Mayor Jolly Resuello and San Carlos City Councilor Joshua Resuello, will also take drug tests.

Lawyer Dave Alunan, NBI deputy regional director, said the vice mayor went to their office for a voluntary drug test.

P/Senior Inspector Maria Theresa Sobejana, a lawyer-chemist at the PNP Crime Laboratory in La Union said the vice mayor is negative of Methamphetamine and Tetrahydrocannabinol use. (Tita Roces)
