Gov. Espino Cites Importance of Statistics

THE provincial government, fresh from another successful staging of the National Statistics Month (NSM) last October, honored its participants who dominated the various competitions lined up to celebrate the event.

The NSM Provincial Awarding Ceremony coinciding with the closing ceremony held at the Sison Auditorium on November 12 cited the youth participants from the secondary schools and colleges in the province who performed remarkably showcasing the talents of Pangasinenses and the leadership of the province.

Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., lauded the efforts of the Provincial Steering Committee and congratulated the students and the regional and provincial LGU awardees in the recent conduct of the NSM celebration for a job well done that made the province shine anew as the Best NSM Province for 2014. The provincial government, having been catapulted to the Hall of Fame for as Best NSM Province for three consecutive years in 2008 to 2010, did not join the competition for three years.

Gov. Espino, in his speech, said statistics is very important as it is a very vital part of everything.

“Kailangan natin yan sa mga reforms na ating ginagawa at sa mga development plans na gagawin natin,” the governor said.

“Kailangan natin ang Estadistika para sa pangangalap ng mga impormasyon,” Gov. Espino.

Meanwhile, BM Amado I. Espino III, this year’s NSM chairman, was gratified to see Pangasinan stand out once again in Region 1.

Pangasinan earned the major regional awards in the Slogan-Poster making contest in both tertiary and secondary levels, champion in the secondary level oratorical contest, grand winner in the tertiary level competition in the Jingle-Making contest, Best in essay writing contest, secondary level and 1st runner-up in the regional Statistics quiz, secondary level competition. /ADV
