Town’s seniors get free cataract screening

MALASIQUI- The senior citizens with failing eyesight in the town received medical assistance from the local government in partnership with a private foundation.

A cataract screening for some 50 senior citizens was conducted by the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation (MDF), a non-government organization supporting cataract patients.

Although the patients requiring surgery will be asked to pay P3,100. to cover the costs of medicines, doctors’ fee and facility are free. Domantay offered to help the indigent senior citizens to cover the costs for their cataract operation. MDF and local government are also coordinating to help the children in the town with cleft palate, cross-eyed and with clubfoot. (Hilda M. Austria)
