PRISAA-UCAAP championship Game 2

AND the suspense continues!

After two postponements due to typhoons, Game 2 of the best-of-three final series between the University of Pangasinan-PHINMA Flames and the Lyceum-Northwestern University Dukes in the Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. Cup of the PRISAA-UCAAP Collegiate Basketball Championship will finally be played on October 14, 2 p.m. at the Peoples Astrodome in Dagupan City.

The first two scheduled dates had to be moved as the venue was used as an evacuation center during the consecutive typhoons “Pedring” and “Quiel”.

The Flames won the first game last September 21 in overtime, 85-79.

Flames’ coach Jay Ronquillo said the long rest period provided his wards extra training and conditioning sessions.

“We are raring to go for the clincher,” Ronquillo said.

On the other hand, Dukes coach Angel Gumarang, said while his team is considered the underdog in Game 2, the players are determined to put up a good fight.

The Dukes’ star player, John Paul Cabucol, who is the top bet for the tournament’s Most Valuable Player plum this year, said his teammates are ready for the pressure and will depend on their strategies to win Game 2 and force a third encounter.—(PRISAA-UCAAP report/ PCC)
