Alaminos City tourism officer elected ATOP national prexy

ALAMINOS CITY–The city’s tourism officer, Miguel Sison, has been elected national president of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines, Inc. (ATOP) for three years from 2011 to 2013.

Other elected officers are Atty. Ivann Patrick Ang of Zamboanga del Norte, executive vice president; Dante Navarro of San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan, vice president for Luzon; Alphonsus Tesoro of the Province of Capiz, vice president for the Visayas; Ma. Cora Tito of General Santos City, vice president for Mindanao.

The election of new set of officers was one of the highlights of ATOP’s 11th National Convention held at Subic Bay Freeport from October 3-6 with the theme  “ATOP-Strengthening Domestic Tourism.”

In his keynote speech, Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim expressed his support to ATOP’s initiatives for the promotion of the country’s leading tourism destinations.

Organized in 2000, ATOP promotes sustainable community tourism programs in partnership with local chief executives who advocate tourism development in their respective local government units.—LM
