AS THE AIR GETS COOLER

THE Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD-1) is bracing for an expected rise in cases of influenza-like illnesses (ILIs) as the cooler months approach.

In a statement, Dr. Rhuel Bobis, DOH CHD-1 spokesperson, assured the public that health facilities across the region, including hospitals, Rural Health Units, and City Health Offices, are fully prepared to accommodate and treat patients seeking care for ILI symptoms.

DOH CHD-1’s data from January to October 4 shows the region had 8,842 cases of ILI. While this represents a 16.6% decrease compared to the 10,605 cases in the same period last year, the health department continues to urge residents to take necessary precautions.

To mitigate the spread of flu and similar illnesses, the DOH has also intensified its vaccination efforts, encouraging residents to get inoculated as a preventive measure.

Meanwhile, Bobis has denied any news of a possible lockdown due to the flu-like illnesses in Region I, including Pangasinan. (Ahikam Pasion)
