No ghost projects in Pangasinan’s 4th District — Rep. Gina

AMID the uproar over alleged ghost  projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Bulacan and other parts of the country, Rep. Gina de Venecia confidently declared that there are no such cases in the 4th District of Pangasinan, which she represents in Congress.

The district covers Dagupan, an independent component city, and the towns of Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto and Manaoag.

She cited two major infrastructure projects in the district – the De Venecia Highway that connects Calasiao to Dagupan, and the Jose de Venecia Expressway Extension, from Barangay  Lucao to Pantal, plus the new Pantal Bridge – that are considered engineering marvels and were constructed above-board.

The congresswoman, wife of former five-time House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. and mother to former Rep. Christopher de Venecia, further said these projects have proven to be catalysts for economic development.

Additionally, a flood control project that is now also serving as an access or alternative route for  light vehicles, from the foot of the new Pantal Bridge up to Star Plaza Hotel, passing through the Dagupan Fish Market, remains stable and serving the purpose for which it was built. (Leonardo Micua)
