Dagupan State of Calamity lifted

THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution on September 15 lifting the State of Calamity in the city, which was declared on July 23, 2025 due to the effects of Typhoon Crising (international name: Wipha) and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

The resolution, authored jointly by Councilors Jose Netu Tamayo and Michael Fernandez, overrides Resolution No. 8352-2025 that declared a State of Calamity as the city suffered from severe and widespread flooding.

Tamayo and Fernandez stated that the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) and other concerned offices have assessed that the situation in Dagupan has stabilized, with critical lifelines restored, floodwaters receding, and the city now in the recovery and rehabilitation stage.

Lifting the state of calamity declaration puts the city back to normalcy while sustaining ongoing rehabilitation efforts.

The expense breakdown of the calamity fund used will be included in the first 100 days report  of Mayor Belen Fernandez that will be delivered in October, Tamayo said. (Leonardo Micua)
