Dagupan police commended for solving 2 high-profile crimes
THE Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution on August 18 commending the exemplary performance of the Dagupan City Police Station, under the leadership of its new chief, P/Lt. Colonel Lawrence Keith Calub, for his swift action resulting in the solution of two high-profile crimes and the arrest of a foreign national wanted by the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
Taking a cue from Mayor Belen Fernandez, who lauded the police for their successful operations in just one week, the SP passed Resolution R-112 in recognition of the police force’s capability, commitment and courage.
It cited the arrest, in less than 24 hours, of the perpetrators of the gruesome slaying of a seven-year-old girl from Asingan, whose body was found along the shoreline of Bonuan Gueset at dawn on August 15.
Saying that such kind of violence has no place in a peaceful city like Dagupan, Fernandez called for prayers for the victim as well as consoled the bereaved family.
The perpetrators, a man and a woman, are behind bars as they face charges for murder and kidnapping.
The resolution also stated that in another display of competence and vigilance, the Dagupan police, in close coordination with the Regional Cyber Crime Division, promptly tracked down and identified the suspect behind the fake bomb threat at the University of Pangasinan PHINMA.
The city’s cops also closely worked with the Bureau of Immigration, the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group and other law enforcement agencies, leading to the arrest of one Nathani Narayan Murlidhar, a.k.a. George Castro Charles, an Indian national and fugitive subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice along Tondaligan Road on August 14. (Leonardo Micua)
