CREC to build P9.6-B Pangasinan wind farm

RENEWABLE energy firm Citicore Renewable Energy Corp. (CREC) is investing P9.6 billion in an 80-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Pangasinan, aiming for completion by the first quarter 2028.

The exact site for the project, which is part of CREC’s successful bid in the 2023 green energy auction, has yet to be announced.

CREC is currently setting up a 240-MW solar plant in Barangay Santa Catalina of Pangasinan’s Binalonan town.

The company has also partnered with Singapore-based Levanta Renewables to develop 375 MW of onshore wind power.

The company said it is on track to hit 1 GW of capacity by year-end and has set a bold target of reaching 5 GW by 2026, with 13 of its projects designated as key national energy initiatives, which means it is eligible for the streamlined permitting process.

CREC is also integrating energy storage systems into its solar farms to enhance grid reliability. (Ahikam Pasion)
