Asingan mayor warns residents vs. illegal recruitment
ASINGAN Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr. called for an investigation into a reported multi-million illegal recruitment scheme that has allegedly victimized several town residents.
The move follows complaints from victims who were lured by a group offering jobs in Poland as fruit pickers, with a promise of high compensation.
However, before securing these positions, the victims were asked to pay significant amounts for supposed document processing fees.
According to the complainants, they have already been waiting for years to be deployed.
Lopez also issued a reminder to the public to be discerning when engaging with recruitment agencies and to seek assistance from the municipal Public Employment Service Office to ensure legitimacy.
Further, the mayor suggested that if recruiters approach residents with job offers, they should first go to their local barangay for verification. (Ahikam Pasion)
