All set for May 12 midterm vote
THE final testing and sealing of the Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) was completed on May 6 and all units were expected to be positioned at polling centers over the weekend before election day on May 12.
Provincial Election Supervisor Ericson Oganiza said logistic providers have been contracted to ensure the timely and secure transport of the machines.
The Comelec earlier said security measures were in place to protect the ACMs throughout their journey from the central hub to the voting centers, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process and preventing any tampering or unauthorized access to the machines.
The ACMs will be delivered to the Comelec town and city offices then moved to the designated voting centers closer to election day.
There will be 2,869 ACMs for the elections in Pangasinan, while 491 contingency ACMs will serve as backups in case of any technical issues or unforeseen circumstances with the primary machines.
P/Col. Rollyfer Capoquian, provincial director of the Pangasinan police, said prior to the arrival of the ACMS, police officers were already deployed in day-night shifts in all the precincts to ensure the facilities’ readiness. (Ahikam Pasion)
