More police units to be deployed in Dagupan
DURING HOLY WEEK, ELECTION
THE intense political rivalry in Dagupan, for which the city has been classified under the yellow category by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for the May 12 elections, is manageable and no major incidents are expected, according to the city police chief.
P/Lt.Col. Brendon Palisoc, Dagupan City police chief, said several conferences were already held with COMELEC officials, including Police Provincial Director Rollyfer Capoquian, to discuss the security measures during the election.
Palisoc said more than 100 police officers will be deployed along with force multipliers and augmentation forces and expressed confidence that the elections will proceed peacefully.
He added that preparations are being ramped up for the coming Holy Week break with the expected influx of travelers and police personnel will be deployed at transport terminals, crowded areas, and tourism sites.
Cops will also be stationed on major thoroughfares to assist motorists.
Other towns in the Pangasinan classified under the yellow category include Urdaneta City, Aguilar, Binmaley, Malasiqui, Mangaldan, San Quintin, and Sual. (Ahikam Pasion)
