COMELEC: 7 Dagupan candidates violating campaign rules

By April 14, 2025Top Stories

THE Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Dagupan announced that seven local candidates will be issued notices due to violations of campaign regulations, particularly the posting of unlawful campaign materials in various locations.

The infractions primarily involve the posting of campaign materials on trees, electricity poles, and the use of oversized promotional materials that violate COMELEC guidelines.

In an interview, City Election Officer Atty. Michael Franks Sarmiento confirmed that preparations for the issuance of these notices are already underway.

He declined to name the candidates, but said once they receive the notice, they will be given three days to remove or dismantle their unlawful campaign materials.

A report will be sent to the COMELEC legal office if they fail to comply within the stipulated time frame.

Should a formal complaint be filed, the COMELEC may then issue a suspension order against the candidates found in violation of the Fair Election Act. (Ahikam Pasion)
