TODA Rescue launched in Pangasinan
MEMBERS of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) in Pangasinan will now be officially part of public safety and emergency response with the establishment of the TODA RESCUE, an initiative of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.
A PPPO launched the innovative Strengthening Community Emergency Response Through Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA RESCUE) in a mass oath-taking ceremony of TODA members last week at the De Venecia Sports and Civic Center in San Fabian town,
“We recognize the important role that tricycle drivers play in community safety, and we are empowering them with life-saving skills, anti-crime training, and resources to make a positive impact and play a critical role as first responders in accidents, medical emergencies, and disasters.” P/Col Rollyfer Capoquian, PPPO director, said at the event.
The TODA RESCUE program will establish a network of trained and equipped tricycle operators and drivers who can respond to emergencies as well as report suspicious activities to help prevent crime.
There are 670 TODA in the province expected to work with local government units, disaster risk reduction management offices, health offices, and other supporting agencies to create a network of community responders.
It will also help identify and apprehend colorum or unregistered drivers operating in the province. (Ahikam Pasion)
