THE Pangasinan police ensures order and safety when candidates hold events in the province, one of the country’s most vote-rich provinces.

P/Col Rollyfer Capoquian, police provincial director, said he expects a steady influx of candidates making their rounds in the province and comprehensive security measures, including deployment of officers on the roads are in place in these areas.

Pangasinan currently has eight municipalities and cities classified as “yellow category” or areas of concern, which include Aguilar, Binmaley, Malasiqui, Mangaldan, Sual, San Quintin, Urdaneta City, and Dagupan City.

This classification reflects heightened vigilance in these areas to prevent any potential electoral issues.

Meanwhile, COMELEC has announced a stronger effort to combat vote buying and selling and called on citizens to report any such suspicious activities by submitting photos or videos to the Committee on Kontra Bigay.

Any candidate or their associates suspected of buying votes will be cited by the COMELEC for violation of the election rules (Ahikam Pasion)
