Urdaneta Mayor Parayno back in office
A visibly elated Urdaneta City Mayor Julio “Rammy” Parayno III has returned to office effective October 17 after Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Crisma Vismanos Nabua of Branch 78 issued an order declaring his suspension for 90 days by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan as without legal and factual basis.
A poetic message posted by Parayno on his Facebook page on October 17 indicated he was back in office without completing the 90-day suspension imposed by the provincial board for a red tape-related case.
The end of his message reads: “Mabuhay ang mga taga-Urdaneta… nakabalik na po ako bilang city mayor!!”
Parayno said it has been more than two months that he had been suspended from office “based on flimsy grounds” raised in the provincial SP.
Asked on his reaction about the decision of the RTC, Parayno said he never lost hope that eventually justice will prevail even if the cases were initiated by rich and powerful people in the province.
His Facebook post expressed his lament over the defamation and pain that he received when he was suspended from office, but that “sweet victory was his in the end.”
Parayno was suspended by Governor Ramon Guico III following a decision of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan that he violated the Anti-Red Tape law by failing to act on complaints against a poultry farm.
His relative, Vice Mayor Jing Parayno assumed as acting mayor throughout his suspension.
Both Paraynos are again running for re-election and are up against Maan Tuazon-Guico, wife of Governor Guico, who is running for mayor, and incumbent 5th District Board Member Chinky Perez-Tababa for vice mayor. (Leonardo Micua)
