WEAPONS, ALCOHOL TO BE CONFISCATED

THE police reminded the public of items that will not be allowed inside both public and private cemeteries as crowds flock during the coming Undas weekend, with checkpoints to be set up at entrances.

The list of prohibited items includes alcoholic drinks, illegal drugs, large tents (with leeway in private cemeteries that are spacious), loud sound systems, sharp objects like knives and machetes, and firearms, P/Capt. Renan dela Cruz, public information officer of the Pangasinan police, said in an interview on October 21.

Cemetery owners and administrators have been urged to prohibit large tents to avoid obstructions in case of emergencies.

He also appealed to the public to keep cemeteries clean by properly disposing of trash, especially plastic bags and bottles.

Parents have also been advised to tag children who will join them — with name, address, and contact numbers — so they can easily rejoin their families in case they get separated and get lost. (Ahikam Pasion)

Over 200 police desks to be set up for Undas

THE Pangasinan Police ordered the deployment of personnel to man 223 police assistance desks in cemeteries, recreational areas, and convergence points across Pangasinan for the long weekend with the observance of Undas on November 1.

P/Capt. Renan dela Cruz, PPO public information officer, said Provincial Director P/Col. Rollyfer Capoquian immediately ordered preparations for the deployment plan when he assumed office two weeks ago.

There will be 168 desks across 182 public and private cemeteries; 33 in leisure areas, resorts, and parks; and 22 in places of convergence.

About 2,300 personnel will be deployed, including 701 local police officers supported by national units, other law enforcement agencies, advocacy groups, and force multipliers.

Cops will also be patrolling residential areas in coordination with barangay officials to ensure security while people are out for their traditional visit to departed loved ones. (Ahikam Pasion)
