Dagupan police seeks P2-M Intel fund

THE Dagupan police proposed an intelligence fund of P2 million next year, citing the need to support operations against criminal groups operating clandestinely in the city.

P/Lt. Colonel Brendon Palisoc, chief of police of Dagupan, made the presentation during a technical budget hearing on August 30, where all department heads presented their respective proposals for next year.

He cited the recent anti-drug operations of his men that resulted in the arrest of seven individuals undertaking pot session on a suspected shabu “tiangge” in Bonuan Gueset, but at the same time acknowledged the current political climate over intelligence funds.

Mayor Belen Fernandez expressed support to intelligence funds for law enforcement agencies, but said she will first refer the request to the Commission on Audit.

The proposed budgets of all departments will be consolidated for submission to the Local Development Council for approval, then will be transmitted to the Sangguniang Panlungsod in October. (Leonardo Micua)
