SOME 70 families from five barangays in Calasiao were affected by moderate flooding triggered by days of monsoon rains that was enhanced by Typhoon Enteng.

The flooded barangays were Lasip, Lumbang, Talibew, Mangcop and San Vicente, all located near the Marusay River, which flows towards neighboring Dagupan City.

As off 11:00 a.m. on September 4, the Marusay River rose above its 2-feet normal water level, reaching as high as 6.3 feet.

No evacuation was mandated and residents opted to stay home despite knowing the risk of contracting leptospirosis when they wade in floodwater.  (Leonardo Micua)
